Hilton Head Island_shopping_Shelter Cove Towne Centre_Dunes Real Estate
The shopping opportunities are always on the move in Hilton Head Island. There is a wide variety of larger shopping options as well great boutique shopping opportunities on the island. While there have been several recent developments of shopping centers, there have also been some closures which begs the question, what will take their place?

The recent redevelopment of the Shelter Cove Towne Centre has razed the mall and gave way to many new shopping and dining options. The anchor staple Belk that was part of the original mall is still in place with an entire building devoted to women’s apparel and a second detached building for men’s apparel and home goods. Other stores include a Kroger Shopping Center, Woody’s Sunglass Shop, Artware, Birdie James,

Lowcountry-Oyster Beds-McVey Group-Dunes Real Estate
Each year residents and visitors to Hilton Head and Bluffton look forward to the cooling weather that brings on the oyster harvesting season. Typically this time period begins in September and runs through April, also known as the months with an “R” in it. Although it is said you cannot eat local oysters outside of the “R” months that is not true. The oysters spawn in the warmer months so for sustainability reasons they do not allow harvesting during the warmer months, also the colder weather and water temps provide larger and better tasting oysters.

This year was off to a slow start as warmer weather pushed the season into late September and early October. After that, another delay occurred due to Hurricane Matthew. The oyster beds were closed until

Maximizing Your Vacation Rental Home Revenue-Hilton Head-Bill Anderson-Dunes Real Estate
It is important to understand how to get the most out of your vacation home, and here is another tip on how to do so.  We first talked about making your house pet-friendly.  This increases your chance of capturing the off-season leads that have a lot of choices.  Now we are going to discuss heating your pool and what you can do to be competitive.

In this writing, we are going to discuss adding free pool heat for the months of March - May and September – November. Again, you may think I am crazy for suggesting this, but hear me out.  If you haven’t already switched to an electric heater for your pool, do so, it will pay off very quickly.  A new electric heater is going to run about $4,500 plus some minor electrical work that will be needed. Now that you

Hilton Head Snow Day - Dot Holly - Dunes Real Estate
No, we don’t really get snow here and the children who have lived on the island since they were born have never seen snow.  Well, yesterday was the once a year snow day at Shelter Cove Community Park.  It’s a family event where parents bring their children and there’s a snowfield created by a big hose from a truck. The children line up behind a rope and they only let so many into the field at the same time.  Then once in awhile the hose from the truck pours out snow and the children have a grand time.  Kids between 2 and 17 whoop and holler and just laugh and play as the snow pours in upon them.  They wear hats and mittens and there are pails and shovels and snowballs. There was a band with music playing, blow up rides, hot dogs and goodies.  I really
